In Sweden all the children wait patiently for the 1st of December to watch the Svt (public broadcast) of julkalendern, which is a tv series in 15 minute episodes shown on tv early in the morning before daybreak. Daybreak doesn't mean early, as it doesn't get light until around 8 am for the time being. So like all children ours too waited for the first of December when they could open the first calendar door and watch the first episode. But thanks to modern technology the episodes are broadcast on www.svt.se so our kids quickly realised that that was a better option than rising early the 15 minutes extra.
